Activ Congratulates Benjamin Wakounig on His Re-election as SGZ President

We are proud to congratulate our director, Benjamin Wakounig, on his re-election as President of the Slovenian Economic Association (SGZ) for the 2026–2030 term. 👏

His renewed mandate is an important recognition of his long-standing commitment to strengthening cross-border economic cooperation and fostering connections across the Alpe-Adria region. 🤝🌍

Following the election, he emphasized:

“One of the key priorities of my mandate will be strengthening cooperation across the Alpe-Adria region. We live and work in an area with exceptional economic, cultural, and human potential. This is why I want SGZ to continue serving as a bridge between businesses, institutions, partners, and opportunities — in Austria, Slovenia, Italy, and beyond.”

At Activ, we strongly believe that collaboration, international partnerships, and regional connectivity are essential drivers of sustainable economic growth and future development.

We are pleased to continue contributing to this shared vision and wish the newly elected SGZ leadership a successful and inspiring mandate ahead.

👏 Congratulations to all newly elected SGZ bodies for the 2026–2030 term.

Delivering Cleaner Power: Nikola Tesla B FGD Project Completed

An important milestone has been reached in Serbia’s energy transition.

On April 6, 2026 an official ceremony marked the completion of works on the flue gas desulfurization (FGD) unit at the Nikola Tesla B power plant, a major step toward cleaner and more sustainable energy production

This significant achievement includes the successful installation of Flue Gas Desulfurization technology using a wet process, delivered by our partner and consortium leader, Mitsubishi Power.

The project is one of the largest environmental investments in the regional power sector and is expected to significantly reduce harmful emissions from one of Serbia’s key electricity generation facilities.

We warmly thank Mitsubishi Power, Energotehnika Južna Bačka, and Goša Montaža AD for their collaboration, and Joint Stock Company Elektroprivreda Srbije for the trust they placed in Activ. Congratulations to everyone involved on this landmark achievement.

Projects like this show what can be accomplished through strong partnerships, technical expertise, and a shared vision for a more sustainable future.

Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold of the Province of Carinthia for our CEO Benjamin Wakounig

On Saturday, 17 August 2024, our CEO and President of the Slovenian Business Association of Carinthia (SGZ), Benjamin Wakounig, was surprised with a special honour at Taggenbrunn Castle. On the occasion of his 60th birthday, Governor of Carinthia Peter Kaiser and ÖVP Club Chairman Markus Malle presented him with the Grand Decoration of Honour in Gold of the Province of Carinthia.

This prestigious award recognises his outstanding commitment to the region. In his speech, Peter Kaiser emphasised that Wakounig had spent his life building bridges between cultures and economies, thereby making a significant contribution to strengthening the ‘common Carinthia’.

Markus Malle also emphasised that Wakounig had always put what we have in common before what divides us – an important contribution in an increasingly polarised world. The Decoration of Honour, which was requested on the initiative of the President of the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce, Jürgen Mandl, is a sign of deep recognition of Benjamin Wakounig’s life’s work.

The ACTIV team congratulates him on this great honour and wishes him success, health and happiness for his future path in life.

Wind energy production peaks in Southeastern Europe for a day

On May 9, 2024, Croatia achieved a notable distinction by generating the highest percentage of its electricity from wind farms compared to all other EU member countries and the wider European area. 💨🇭🇷

In April, wind energy in Croatia generated 204 GWh of electricity, accounting for 14.7% of its total electricity production, with a capacity factor of 24.9%, according to the Croatian Association of Renewable Energy Sources (OIEH). 🌬️⚡

While ACTIV has contributed significantly as a partner in regional energy projects across Southeastern Europe, the integration of renewable energy sources continues to evolve. 🌍🔋 Notable progress has been made in overcoming some barriers, yet several challenges persist, including infrastructure limitations, regulatory hurdles, economic constraints, and issues related to public perception and education. 🚧⚖️💰🧠

Despite these challenges, ACTIV remains committed to its mission. We work closely with local governments and stakeholders to improve infrastructural capabilities and advocate for more cohesive regulatory frameworks. 🤝🏛️ Our efforts also extend to facilitating financial solutions that make renewable projects more feasible and educating communities about the long-term benefits of such initiatives. 💡📚

💪 With continued perseverance and collaboration, significant progress is possible.

Activ at IFAT Munich 2024

We are thrilled to have attended the IFAT Munich trade fair, the premier platform for environmental technologies. This event has proven to be essential for anyone committed to a sustainable future.

With over 3,100 exhibitors, including more than half from international participants, IFAT Munich offered an impressive insight into the latest trends, spanning from air pollution control, emissions reduction, waste management and recycling, to wastewater treatment and disposal.

One of the highlights for us was Hall A4, which showcased:

  • Innovative solutions for energy recovery from secondary raw materials and waste
  • Advanced air quality and emissions control technologies
  • The increasing prominence of hydrogen as a clean energy source

We had the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with various environmental solution providers and gather new knowledge. We also reconnected with our existing business partners, exchanging ideas on the latest trends in biomass boiler solutions, efficient emission reduction technologies, and boiler cleaning systems.

Here’s to embracing innovation and sustainability together! 🌱💡

We look forward to hearing about your project.
