The largest environmental project in Serbia regarding the construction of the flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) system at the TPP Nikola Tesla A in Obrenovac is progressing well. This project not only ensures clean air for Obrenovac, but also guarantees the extension of the largest EPS TPP TENT A. The contract for the FGD system in TENT A was signed in 2017 and the plant will be operational from May 2023. This will reduce SO2 emissions at units A3, A4, A5 and A6 as much as 9-fold, from about 74,000 tons to 7,747 tons per year.
ACTIV Project Management GmbH is responsible for the project management in conjunction with the cooperation partners Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd. (MHPS) and its Duisburg-based subsidiary, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe GmbH (MHPSE).

Due to the coronavirus restrictions, our partner Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) had to withdraw its experts from the construction sites Ugljevik and TENT A3-A6 Obrenovac in April 2020. ACTIV, however, was able to continue the work, despite the current restrictions, with the local teams that have been working on both construction sites since the beginning of both flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) projects. As a result, MHPS was able to continue to fulfil its contractual obligations for both projects.
For ACTIV, it is especially important in the current situation to be a reliable and stable partner for our business partners and customers. The employees of the ACTIV teams on site naturally adhere to the strict official regulations in their interpersonal dealings in order to prevent infection with coronavirus.
We would like to thank our local employees most sincerely for their work, for their dedication and commitment in the current situation!

A three-month trial operation of flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) at TPP Ugljevik started on 13 December 2019. The EUR 80 million investment will reduce sulphur dioxide (SO2) emissions to 200 milligrams per cubic metre from 16,000 milligrams per cubic metre, meaning that emissions of harmful gases will be reduced 80-fold, thus fulfilling all the strict requirements of European legislation in the field of ecology.
The work of one of the partners on this project, the company RUDIS, was therefore also successfully completed. We thank the company RUDIS for the good cooperation on this project. Learn more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOzP1lLsz58

The latest “MHPS Energy Conference for Southeast Europe” in Portorož, Slovenia, presented ways and means to clean up conventional power plants. About 120 attendees from business and politics followed the lectures from MHPS’s experts and discussed the latest developments in, for example, power plant engineering, flue gas cleaning or the role of hydrogen in the power sector. What was very clear by the end of the two-day conference: No matter how you want to achieve a low-carbon system – Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems can offer the right tools, products and services.
The event took place on June 4-5, 2019. ACTIV Project Management GmbH actively supported the cooperation partner in the organization of the event.

From 5 until 8 November 2018, the Society of Thermal Engineers of Serbia together with the Serbian energy supply company (EPS) organised the conference POWER PLANTS 2018 in the Zlatibor mountains. The international event focused on the current need to bring power plant systems in Serbia up to a level that from an ecological perspective approaches a level accepted by the industrial countries of the European Union. On the one hand, environmental problems were pointed out and on the other, technologies to reduce SOx, NOx, PM and CO2 emissions addressed. The numerous participants included university professors, experts from the public sector and private companies.
A series of talks and presentations were offered during the conference. Representatives of the large corporation Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) and its subsidiary Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe (MHPSE) gave two talks at the conference. In its talk entitled State-of-the-Art MHPS AQCS Technologies (FGD, ESP, SCR), MHPS concentrated on the control systems for air quality, whereas in its presentation entitled Benefits from power and energy solution business (PESB) MHPSE addressed the benefits of the electricity and energy business. In both talks, the company ACTIV Project Management was positively accentuated as a competent and reliable partner for international project management. This recognition is attributable to the successful support from the cooperation partners on the south-eastern European market and on the flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) project in the thermal power plant TENT Obrenovac A3-A6.

The third international business conference “Canton Sarajevo 2018” organised by the Ministry of Economics of the Canton of Sarajevo was held on 25 and 26 September 2018. The event, which was attended by high-calibre figures, was opened, among others, by Valentin Inzko, High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina and he welcomed around 400 participants.
On behalf of ACTIV Project Management, the company’s managing director Benjamin Wakounig was on site and conducted bilateral discussions with various companies in order to expand the company’s network in the areas of project management and energy solutions. With the continuous expansion of our international network, we are opening new doors for our partners and creating new business perspectives for them in south-eastern Europe.
Mr. Benjamin Wakounig, Managing Director of ACTIV Project Management, met Mr. Boštjan Gorjup, President of the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce, during his business trip in Slovenia, to discuss the achievements and future opportunities of cross-border cooperation. Together with representatives of the Slovenian Business Association Mr. DI Feliks Wieser, Vice President, and Mag. Andreas Urbas, Supervisory Board member, they visited numerous companies in Slovenian Savinja Valley and set up interesting prospects for future cooperation.
The one-day conference entitled “Energy Potential in Kosovo” took place in Pristina on 7 October 2016. Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe (MHPS-EU) organised its first presentation in Kosovo at which it presented its broad portfolio of products and its extensive expertise in power plant construction. More than 100 participants from business and politics accepted the invitation to attend. The event was hosted collectively by MHPS-EU, Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, ACTIV Project Management GmbH – MHPS-EU representative for Eastern/Southeastern Europe, and its local partners of the ECO Trade company in Pristina. With this successful conference, MHPS-EU established itself as an important long-term partner in power plant construction and services in Kosovo.
We look forward to hearing about your project.
