Successful Completion of Europe’s Largest Environmental Project
On April 25, 2024, we marked the completion of Europe’s largest environmental project related to thermal power plants—and the third largest of its kind in the world—at the Nikola Tesla A facility in Obrenovac, Serbia.
This significant achievement features the successful installation of Flue Gas Desulfurization technology using a wet process, developed by our partner and leading consortium, Mitsubishi Power. The process utilizes limestone as a reagent and produces gypsum as a byproduct, valuable in construction.
The new system will maintain sulfur oxide emissions in flue gases below 200 mg/Nm3 and PM emissions under 20 mg/Nm3. This represents a reduction of thirty times of previous sulfur dioxide emissions levels, ensuring the plant meets all environmental goals while continuing energy production at the highest European standards.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mitsubishi Power and Jedinstvo from Sevojno for their collaboration, and to Elektroprivreda Srbije for their trust in Activ. Congratulations to all parties involved on this landmark achievement!
