World’s largest desulphurisation plant in Serbia

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd (MHPS) and the Serbian utility company Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) signed the contract for the construction of the world’s largest flue gas desulphurisation plant (FGD) for the thermal power plant Nikola Tesla A Obrenovac in Serbia on 8 September 2017. This will reduce emissions from approximately 74,000 metric tons to 7,800 metric tons per year. This is in line with all the commitments and guidelines that Serbia has taken on. The contract for 1,300 MW Nikola Tesla includes two MHPS FGD systems. Successful commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2021.

ACTIV Project Management GmbH is responsible for project management in collaboration with its cooperation partners, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, Ltd and its subsidiary from Duisburg, Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Europe GmbH (MHPSE).
